Update ArconQ Installation in ArconQ VM

ArconQ instance running in ArconQ VM is configured specifically to run without requiring Internet access. That said, ArconQ VM doesn't store any ArconQ Docker nor ArconQ Helm registry credentials. Hence, currently it is impossible to perform an on-line update of ArconQ.

Luckily, there is an off-line update method. ArconQ VM comes together with ArconQ VM Updates, which can be used to update your ArconQ VM to the latest ArconQ version.

Download ArconQ VM Update

ArconQ VM Update package can be obtained from the same repository as ArconQ VM. Select and download desired ArconQ VM Update version. The update package names are created according to the following pattern arconq-vm-X.X.X-update.sh, where X.X.X is ArconQ version.

If your ArconQ VM has Internet access, you can use following command to download the update package:

cd /root
read -rp  "Provide ArconQ VM repository user name: " ARQ_USER
read -srp "Provide ArconQ VM repository password: " ARQ_PASSWD
curl -u "$ARQ_USER:$ARQ_PASSWD" https://nexus.macrix.eu/repository/arq-virtual-machine/arconq-vm-update-X.X.X.sh -O

Otherwise you can download the update on any other machine.

Upload ArconQ VM Update to ArconQ VM

If you didn't download the ArconQ VM Update package on the ArconQ VM, you need to upload the update package to your ArconQ VM. You can use tools such as WinSCP or Filezilla to perform file transfer over SSH (make sure you have configured SSH server in your ArconQ VM).

You can upload the update package to any directory.

Perform the Update

The last step is simply to run the ArconQ VM Update installer. In this example it is assumed you have downloaded (or uploaded) the update package to /root directory.

To run the update first add the execution permission to the update package.

chmod u+x /root/arconq-vm-update-X.X.X.sh

Then start the update:

/root/arconq-vm-update-X.X.X.sh

During the update process the integrity of update package will be verified. Then ArconQ container images will be imported. At the end, the ArconQ runtime update will be performed.
