Breaking changes​

The File Storage SDK has been reworked. The IFileStorageBus interface, the FileEntry class and the FileEntryType enum have been removed and replaced by IFileStorage and IBlobStorage. Apps that use the old API must be updated before they will compile — see Migrating to ArconQ 1.3.0. This is a code-level change only; the files in your storage are not affected.

  • PCD-3428 - Introducing new ArconQ Management SDK for managing users, roles and groups from within your applications. See ArconQ Management SDK for details.
  • PCD-3421 - Distributed tracing support: the ArconQ Helm chart has a new traces section that can install Grafana Tempo to collect and store traces. It is disabled by default and can be enabled with --set traces.enabled=true (or traces.enabled: true in your values), which also installs Grafana.

When updating from 1.2.0 to 1.2.1 the new login page theme won't be selected by default. You need to log in to the Keycloak admin panel and select it.
The URL is https://<your-instance>/identity-provider/admin/master/console and the credentials are in the arq-passwords secret in the <your-namespace> namespace under keycloak-admin-username and keycloak-admin-password keys.
After a successful login, you need to choose the realm arconq and then go to Realm Settings -> Themes and select the arconq theme for the login page.

Breaking changes​

We switched to Keycloak for authentication and authorization in ArconQ. This change allows ArconQ to be connected to external identity providers via Keycloak, enabling features like Single Sign-On (SSO) and centralized user management, e.g. via Active Directory.

Moving to Keycloak also changes the OpenID Connect endpoints exposed by ArconQ: the authority (issuer) is now https://<your-instance>/identity-provider/realms/arconq and the token endpoint moves from /connect/token to /identity-provider/realms/arconq/protocol/openid-connect/token. Applications, external clients and scripts that reference these endpoints must be updated — see Authentication endpoint changes in the migration guide.

We made ArconQ compatible with pod-security.kubernetes.io/enforce=restricted Pod Security Admission namespace label. We added securityContext to all pods, restricting them to run as non-root users and striping them from all Linux capabilities.

Because apps now run as a non-root user, apps in Debug Mode listen on SSH port 2222 instead of 22 and receive a new Remote password after migration — see the migration guide.

This also means that the existing users, roles and external clients in ArconQ will be lost after the update, and the applications are affected as well. To ensure a smooth migration, follow the Migrating to ArconQ 1.2.0 guide.

Breaking changes​

This release introduces breaking changes related to users roles management: users without any roles now have significantly more restricted access, while users with the developer role retain the same level of access previously granted to the user without any roles. To ensure a smooth migration to the new version, please follow the steps below.

Before updating ArconQ:

  • make sure you have access to your admin account on your ArconQ instance

After updating to ArconQ v1.1.20:

  • Log in with your admin account, go to the users page, and identify all users, that don't have an admin role
  • If you want them to preserve the level of authorization they had before, assign to them the developer role
  • If you are using the CLI, make sure that the external client, that is assigned in your CLI config has at least the developer role (for details see ArconQ CLI/Installation).

  2. A default behavior changed when using an external Elasticsearch instance. Now we create default ILM (Index Lifecycle Management) policies (logs older than 7 days will be deleted). To disable this functionality set elasticsearch.ilmPolicy.enabled=false`
